Mobility is provided by self-steering robotic crawlers, all-terrain crawlers and track-mounted systems. A CCTV camera is launched from the robotic transporter through the mainline and up the lateral, extending up to 100 feet.

During the process, every inch of the infrastructure network, from the mainline through the length of a lateral, is inspected for dangerous gas utility line cross bores, pipe degradation and structural issues.

Manholes are the most accessible points of a sewer system. Manhole inspections should be considered a vital aspect of any wastewater infrastructure inspection or maintenance program. Traditional methods of accessing and inspecting manholes and underground vaults, or confined space entry, can involve a significant amount of time and risk. A scanning device is lowered into the manhole or vault on a telescoping pole system or cable. As the scanner is deployed, it periodically makes 360-degree scans, which are later processed to create a 3D point cloud of the interior. Scans can be produced in color or black and white. The process captures high-resolution details from every inch of the manhole wall, enabling a more accurate and comprehensive manhole cover assessment. The data collected, often referred to as point clouds, can be used by CAD technicians to create accurate maps of spaces, making it easier to see materials, shapes, density and the size of physical objects in subsurface spaces.
